How to Make Easy Homemade Oat Milk in 5 Minutes

This recipe does not require any special equipment, unlike other non-dairy milk recipes (nut milk bags). It just takes minutes to make so you don't have to soak the oats first. 5 minutes, a handful of whole rolled oats, filtered water, a fine mesh strainer, and a strong blender are all you need to make your homemade oat milk!

Ingredients

  • Oats
  • Cold Water

Instructions

  • In a strong blender, combine the oats and cold water and mix for 30 seconds, or until the water is creamy and white. Be careful not to over-blend for the finest texture!
  • After that, pour the oat milk through a fine mesh strainer over a big mixing bowl. Some liquid may collect at the strainer's bottom. That isĀ fine as this liquid, as well as any oat pulp beneath it, should be discarded. If you try to press the pulp through the strainer to get more liquid through, the milk can become slimy and gritty.
  • Strain the liquid twice for extra-smooth oat milk, discarding the leftover pulp each time. Although this step is optional, it will result in the smoothest final texture.
  • When you want to use it, don't shake it like most dairy-free milks. Instead, pour the creamy milk off the top and let any remaining oat pulp settle at the bottom of the container. Store milk in fridge and may last up to 7 days.
